The New York avant-garde festival
The New York Alliance Française inaugurated a new avantgarde festival on September 25th, destined to become a yearly event. Its first edition presented all disciplines through an elite selection of artists from the young
contemporary French arts scene: theatre, dance, music and film. New York became the essential venue for French artistic creation over a one-month period.
Its name,
Crossing the Line, sets the tone: provocative, impertinent, unusual. It will undoubtedly become a symbol for contemporary French creation in New York. The Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère, with its desire to promote young
and upcoming artists, participated in this project by supporting two shows.
The first,
Le Petit Chaperon rouge by Joël Pommerat. In this adaptation, Joël Pommerat has re-written the Little Red Riding Hood myth, feeding it with his own experience, adventures and fantasies.
The second show,
Érection, is presented at the Barichnikov Foundation by choreographer Pierre Rigal. In this minimalist show, Pierre Rigal explores corporal movements from lying position to standing position. An analytic and playful way of conveying the morphological evolution of the human race.
