Jean-Louis Schlesser at 60 years of age; a former F3 (French champion in 1978, joint winner with Alain Prost) and then F1 driver and a former world sport-prototypes champion with Mercedes, in the 1990s he became one of the leading figures in rally-raid, building his own cars and locking horns with major constructors.
He was twice winner of the Paris-Dakar (1999 and 2000) and has been the holder of the FIA Rally Raid World Cup on several occasions.
In 1990, Marc Victor, a journalist-writer, was the first winner in the journalist category of the talent grant from the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation. He was written several books and has worked extensively on South-East Asia both in radio and the press. More recently, he had opened a restaurant in Kabul, which became a favourite haunt of journalists and diplomats posted in Afghanistan.
