Since the start of the 2006 academic year, the forty young hopefuls of Yannick Noah’s association Fête le Mur, which initiates youngsters from underprivileged areas to the game of tennis, have been “students” at the Jean-Luc Lagardère association. The children benefit from individual training sessions and take part in regional tournaments.
Thanks to the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation, the children meet up every year to take part in a course on the clay courts of the Sophia Country Club, led by Fête le Mur’s managers and with the participation of TeamLagardère’s tennis champions and coaches. This year, they received pointers from Doctor Armand Tomaszewski in particular, a medical doctor for TeamLagardère and former marathon runner. They also had the opportunity to play against Camille Pin, a female tennis player ranked 77th in the world.
During the course, both male and female players from all the Fête le Mur sites were able to work on their physical condition, technique and game tactics with the different coaches present. For their part, the coaches made the most of the week by evaluating each child and preparing a personalised technical information sheet for each one of them, which will constitute a working base for the next season’s training.
In parallel with the tennis sessions, the children also took part in a hip-hop dance workshop with Claire Moineau, and a video workshop with Valère Terrier during the afternoons. The workshops spark the children’s’ imagination, artistic expression and sense of creativity, and prepare them for the unmissable show at the end of the course, held in the amphitheatre of the International Centre of Valbonne.
